Serenade Radio – Radio Like It Used To Be
Serenade Radio is the brainchild of Andy Marriott. Andy has worked in broadcasting, both radio and TV, since 1981. Over the years he found it increasingly difficult to find something to listen to on the radio. All the stations that pledged to serve the older age group were apparently turning their backs on that audience and focusing on youth.
So, in February 2015, Serenade Radio was born. Right from the start Andy chose to keep the station free of commercial content of any kind, an oasis of calm in a frantic world. There are no adverts and no sponsorship, and there never will be. This, of course, means no money coming in. No money to pay presenters, so the challenge was to find professionals who would give their time and experience to the station for free. Andy's friends and colleagues rallied round, many it seems had also found themselves with nothing to listen to!
The station is loosely based on the old Light Programme, where quality and a sense of warmth and old-fashioned values were paramount.
The music on Serenade Radio is the best in easy listening, with a nostalgic leaning. Given the preponderance of "oldies" stations these days we generally tend to steer away from the chart hits of the 60s and 70s. A great deal of the music on Serenade Radio cannot be heard anywhere else.
Every programme on Serenade Radio has a presenter who shares the music that they love, each programme is personal. His or her job is to introduce the music and keep you company. You won't hear the same style of music every hour of every day, it used to be called variety but it seems to have gone out of fashion!
We are not here to sell you anything, present the day's news or advise you on traffic conditions. We see ourselves as a bit of friendly company throughout your day, with the best in easy listening, whatever you are up to.
Whilst you may hear some of our presenters on other stations (they need to earn a crust!) be assured we are completely independent. We are not affiliated with any other radio stations or companies.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I bypass ‘Tune-In’ adverts on Alexa?
Recently Tune-In (the stream supplier for Amazon Alexa devices) has been inserting commercials in our programme.
To avoid this please enable our own system. Say “Alexa, enable Serenade Radio”, then “Alexa, play Serenade Radio”.
If it still plays the commercial go to your Amazon account online and search for Serenade Radio. Or put “B09T9NZBFY” in the search box at the top. This will take you to our own “Skill”. Click the Serenade Radio logo. When the skill opens click “Enable Skill” on the right side of the page.
Now when you say “Alexa, play Serenade Radio” it will play without commercial interruptions, just as it should be!

How do I listen on a PC?
Click the play button in the box in the top right corner above. Not only can you hear us live but you can also see the current artist and song name.
How do I listen on my Internet radio?
Just search our name and you should see us.
How do I listen on a Smart Speaker?
If you have Amazon Echo/Dot/Alexa, just say ‘Alexa, play Serenade Radio’.
If you have Google Home, just say ‘Hey Google, play Serenade Radio’.
If you have an Apple HomePod, just say ‘Hey Siri, play Serenade Radio’.
If for any reason you get a reply that it can’t, then ask it to ‘play Serenade Radio from TuneIn’. You may hear an advert (Tune-In’s, not ours) but then you will get the station as normal.
How do I listen on a Mobile Phone or Tablet?
You can listen via our website, via a radio listening app, or on our own apps.
- To listen on our website, just look at the top right of this page and click the white triangle (‘play’ sign) next to the song title.
- Download our app for Android or iOS.
- On one of the radio listening apps (such as Tune-In Radio), just search ‘Serenade Radio’. (We are not available on all apps, for example RadioPlayer.)
How do I listen on my DAB/AM/FM radio?
We are an Internet radio station so you can’t pick us up on an FM or DAB radio set.
You can hear us online in any of the ways above, and we are listed under our name there. So no frequency numbers needed!

Serenade Radio pays for music copyright – as we believe it is right to reward such great composers, performers and their estates.
That costs money – as do many of the technical aspects of ensuring the programmes get to you safely and sound as good as they can.
As we carry no advertising, we rely on your donations.
